親愛的校友們：
由於新冠肺炎肆虐全球，大家都受到不同程度的影響。我謹代表臺大，向所有校友表達母校最誠摯的問候，希望您們與家人平安健康。
今年農曆年節期間，學校的行政同仁就開始規劃校內防疫措施，並隨疫情變化持續調整作法，以全力守護校園，保障師生員工的健康與安全。因為大家的全力投入，校園至今並未出現防疫缺口，這顯示了臺大人的團結與韌性。
至 4 月 2 日止，學校已協助近千名師生員工完成居家隔離、檢疫或自主健康管理，學校也提供所需的健康關懷與心理支持。對於因管制而無法入境的 500 多名同學，學校提出安心就學方案，彈性處理他們所遭遇的困難，並透過遠距教學使這些同學學習不致中斷。學校亦主動聯繫旅外交換生，表達學校的關心，並提供返台配套措施。這些作法，都是為了讓受到疫情影響的同學們能安心生活與學習。
在校園安全方面，我們隨疫情逐步調整校園管制措施，由各館舍的出入管制與體溫檢測，提升到目前的校園出入口管制（持校友證的校友們則不受限制）。此外，我們逐步減少實體教學，避免群聚風險。4 月 6 日起，超過 100 人的大班課程一律實施遠距教學；4 月 27 日起，超過 60 人的課程亦將實施遠距教學。這些部署都是為了阻絕疫情，保護校園安全，並讓同學的學習不會受到太大影響。
除此之外，學校也盡力實踐社會責任。醫學院協助防疫醫療，公衛學院針對疫情提出各種防疫建議。醫學院研究團隊並於日前成功分離出新冠病毒株，是全球領先的成果。電機學院研發出非接觸式自動量測額溫裝置「防疫一號」，有效減少額溫量測時人員間的接觸；電機學院並將技術公開，提供社會使用。對於受疫情影響的校園內餐飲或生活商家，學校主動提出商家紓困方案，協助這些夥伴度過難關。
母校是各位校友永遠的家。如果大家對防疫措施或學校作為有任何建議，請讓我們知道。無論疫情如何變化，請所有校友們放心，我們有信心臺大會更加團結，也一定屹立不搖；也請校友們更加支持我們守護母校校園的努力，以及學弟妹們的學習。
今年學校許多活動（包括校友重聚）雖因疫情而取消或推遲，但疫情終將過去，我們必定會在欣欣向榮的校園內，歡迎大家重回這個屬於您們的家。

Dear Alumni and Friends,
I hope this message finds you and your family in good health as the world continues to grapple with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
National Taiwan University has been setting forth our efforts to protect the health and well-being of our community since the Lunar New Year. Our dedicated staff has also been working around the clock to deal with the uncertainties caused by COVID-19 by preparing to meet every contingency. Up until today, NTU has zero reported cases on campus. This would not be possible without everyone’s collective efforts and resilience.
As of April 2, NTU has assisted nearly one thousand members of the faculty, students, and staff in home isolation, home quarantine, and self-health management by providing both physical and mental support and consultation. For students who cannot attend school in person, NTU’s Study at Ease Project for COVID-19 Prevention provides the flexibility they need by offering online courses. We have also reached out to all our exchange students currently abroad, making sure that they are fully supported and well cared for. In addition, options are available if these students wish to return home. At NTU, we will continue to enable the students’ learning and other activities in accordance with the COVID-19 countermeasures.
To adapt to the changes necessary in confronting the disease, NTU has enforced strict access control on campus as well as temperature checks at every facility. Starting April 6, classes with more than 100 attendees are taught remotely via online platforms. Starting April 27, classes with more than 60 attendees will proceed in the same manner. These operational changes aim to minimize the risks of exposure to the virus on campus, ensure our educational quality, and maintain our teaching and learning without interruption.
Furthermore, NTU takes social responsibilities seriously. The College of Medicine and the College of Public Health have stepped in and joined the nation’s fight against the disease by being on the frontline to provide medical support and to advise authorities. The College of Medicine successfully isolated the coronavirus, making Taiwan a leading country in this area. The College of Electrical and Computer Engineering developed a novel automated thermometer that effectively minimizes personal contacts during temperature measuring, and shared this technology with the public. In addition, NTU has also reached out to the businesses partners around our campus and offered different plans to reduce their financial burden in this difficult time.
This is a crucial time in the life of our University as we contend with the coronavirus. If you have any concerns or suggestions regarding our COVID-19 countermeasures, please let us know. With your support, I am confident that NTU will be growing stronger through these challenging times.
While many activities, including the alumni get-togethers, are canceled or postponed due to this disease, normalcy will resume, and we look forward to welcoming you back when it does. Until then, I wish you and your family good health.
